Faith is the first step we must take
in our Christian Journey. Incoming to God, we must
first believe that He is.
HEBREWS 11:
6. But without
faith it is impossible to please
him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. |
When we come to the
Lord. We must first believe and accept Jesus
Christ.
ROMANS 10:
8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is,
the word of
faith, which we preach;
9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt
believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be
saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be
saved.
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? |
It is through faith that
God engrafts us into the body of the church.
COLOSSIANS 2:
11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
12 Buried with him in baptism,
wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of
God, who hath raised him from the dead. |
The bible teaches us that
we each have a measure of faith.
ROMANS 12:
3 For I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think;
but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of
faith. |
Because we all have a
measure of faith, we can all be saved. God
desire is that all of mankind is saved.
2 PETER 3:
9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness;
but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should
perish, but that all should come to
repentance. |
We only need the faith similar
to a grain of a mustard seed.
ST MATTHEW 17:
20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you,
If ye have faith as a grain of mustard
seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. |
God commands is to walk
and live by faith and not by sight throughout his
word. Walking by faith is so important, God
states this fact four times in his word.
HABAKKUK 2:
4 Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but
the just shall live by his
faith.
ROMANS 1:
17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written,
The just shall live by
faith.
GALATIANS 3:
11 But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for,
The just shall live by
faith.
12 And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
HEBREWS 10:
38 Now the just shall live by
faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. |
We know we need
faith. How do we go about increasing the faith
that have? The bible gives us one primary means
of increasing our faith.
ROMANS 10:
14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not
believed?
and how shall they believe in him of whom they
have not
heard? and how shall they hear without
a
preacher?
15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
17 So then
faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of
God. |
When we hear the word of
the Lord, it causes our faith to grow.
Will there be faith on the
earth when the Lord comes? Jesus raises this
issue with his disciples.
ST LUKE 18:
1 And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily.
Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the
earth? |
We need to continue to grow and
walk in faith. We need to ensure that faith
abides in us.
We are commanded to go
everywhere and preach the word (St Matthew
28:18-20. People hear the word and their faith
is allowed to grow. Hopefully they will hear and
accept the word of the Lord by faith and be saved and
healed.
As you can see, faith is
integral to our walk as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Genesis CFC is determined
to live and walk by faith. Where ever you are,
what ever church you may be in, have a firm faith in
the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord Jesus
Christ and live your life by faith in God!! |
